Description
Description
Granulated Cork — also known as cork grain — is a lightweight, eco-conscious natural material composed of ground cork bark, recycled cork stoppers, and cork off-cuts, repurposed from cork waste that would otherwise go to landfill. The fine 0.5mm–1mm grain size and ultra-low density of 50–60 kg/m³ make this the preferred grade for applications requiring the finest, lightest cork grain available — particularly film, theatre, and stage set design, where the smaller particle size more convincingly simulates fine sand, soil, and natural terrain textures. In garden soil, granulated cork improves aeration and moisture retention to promote healthy plant growth without synthetic additives. In industrial settings, the fine grain is well suited for use as fillers, insulators, and component materials where a lower density and smaller particle size are advantageous. Each cubic foot contains approximately 8 pounds of cork grain and would fit a 12in × 12in × 12in carton — note that cork grain may be a mix of compressed and loose grain, and orders of more than one cubic foot may be bulk packed into a single carton. Perfect for film and theatre set design, stage prop making, gardening and horticulture, industrial components and fillers, oil spill absorption, and any application requiring the finest, lightest natural granular cork material available.
Why Choose Granulated Cork — 0.5mm–1mm?
- Fine 0.5mm–1mm grain size is the preferred grade for film, theatre, and stage set design — smaller particles more convincingly simulate fine sand, soil, and natural terrain than coarser grades
- Ultra-lightweight at 50–60 kg/m³ — significantly lighter than the 1mm–2mm grade and far lighter than sand, rubber, or synthetic granular alternatives
- Improves soil aeration and moisture retention when mixed with garden soil, supporting healthy plant growth without synthetic additives or chemicals
- Recycled and repurposed cork waste — grinding and reusing cork bark, stoppers, and off-cuts keeps material out of landfills and puts it to productive use
- Fine grain suits industrial filler and insulator applications where lower density and smaller particle size are required
- Absorbs oil quickly, making it effective for small domestic and industrial oil spill cleanup
Granulated cork 0.5mm–1mm outperforms coarser cork grades, rubber, and synthetic granular materials for fine-detail film and stage applications, combining the finest natural grain size with an ultra-lightweight composition suited to the most demanding creative and industrial uses.
